May 31st, 2023 - Special council meeting
Much like the earlier meeting in May, most of this meeting took place in a closed session. While I'd like to see fewer discussions held behind closed doors, there are limitations. First, there are rules that dictate what topics can or should be discussed in a closed session. Second, precedents set by previous Oro-Medonte councils on ongoing issues often require us to keep certain topics confidential. Lastly, when it comes to legal matters, the township generally aims to keep its strategy private and confidential so as not to reveal our objectives to opposing counsel.
There were two topics discussed in closed session today 1) Collective Bargaining, & 2) Litigation affecting the municipality (Cannabis) I am limited to what I can discuss, but as was the case with the post earlier this month, I am still optimistic we are moving forward on a positive path.
