June 14th, 2023 - Regular Council
The most pressing public interest item on the agenda was Item 11b, presented by CAO Robin Dunn and Director of Environmental Services Michelle Jakobi. They discussed the water services for Zone 1. Our township maintains the stance that Zone 1 currently has a publicly-managed drinking water system. We are progressing with plans to integrate this system with Zone 2's existing public water system. On May 3rd, the Ontario Superior Court agreed with the township's position and ordered that costs be awarded to us. For more details on this item, additional information is available here.
The second notable presentation was by Doug Minter, Chief Strategies Officer of the Oro-Medonte Freedom Institute, regarding the Oro African Church Project. This non-profit organization is committed to preserving a significant historical monument located within our community.
